'You never know' — Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds speaks out amid incredible Wrexham takeover bid

Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds has issued a succinct message little more than an hour after it emerged he wants to complete a takeover bid at Wrexham AFC.

Reynolds, 43, and fellow Hollywood actor Rob McElhenney were named as potential investors by the 156-year-old National League club on Wednesday evening.

Members of the fan-owned club - 97.5% of them - voted to allow the pair's proposals to proceed to the next stage, with 1,223 Wrexham Supporters Trust members casting their votes on Tuesday.

Swiftly after the news broke, Reynolds took to Twitter to respond to the news - by replying to a tweet sent eight years previously!

Responding to a Twitter user who said "tidyy ;) you never know when Ryan Reynolds is going to turn up in Wrexham ;)", the Canadian actor replied: "Yep, you never know".

The actor followed it up with: "I’ve waited 8 years to respond to this tweet."

It's said a takeover could lead to up to £2million being invested in the third oldest professional football club in the world.

Reynolds, who is married to A Simple Favour actor and former Gossip Girl star Blake Lively, has starred in numerous blockbuster Hollywood movies while McElhenney is the creator of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Talks will now continue between the club and the proposed bidders, who are set to put forward their vision for the club at a special general meeting for members to vote on.
