'You never know' - Dejan Lovren makes Mohamed Salah exit claim after Liverpool transfer links

Former Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren has claimed Mohamed Salah is 'focused' on the club despite speculation he could leave this summer but concedes 'football can be quite changeable'.

The pair were particularly close during their time together at Anfield and Lovren still remains friends with the forward after leaving for Zenit St Petersburg in the summer.

Salah made the headlines twice earlier this season when conducting interviews with Spanish media as he spoke openly about a future move to Barcelona or Real Madrid.

But the Egypt international has a contract until the summer of 2023 with the Reds, and recently said he wants to stay and continue to break records with Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Salah scored in Liverpool's win over West Brom at the weekend to draw level with Harry Kane in the Golden Boot stakes heading into the final matchday of the season.

And Lovren insists the forward will remain focussed on the job at hand as he cited his impressive form in front of goal.

“I cannot talk in his name about what his plans are but I think he's similar to me. If he's focused he's focused there and he showed that with the goalscoring,” he told Sky.

“You never know what can happen in football. I wish him all the best, I hope he wins lots of trophies at Liverpool but football can be quite changeable so let's see.

“We'll always be in contact, he's more than a friend. He knows he can call me whenever he wants and whatever he wants to talk about we are there for each other.

“Even if the club doesn't do that well it says a lot about his personal qualities.”
