All my people with beautiful boobies to the front: This one’s for you. Ever since high school, I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect strapless bra, and if you’ve got boobs, you’ve probably been right there with me.
The perfect strapless bra needs to do three things (IMO): One, keep the girls in place — it should hold each boob in place, keep them lifted and not fall down while you’re wearing it. Two, be comfortable and supportive — it shouldn’t dig in or cut your boobs in half. And three, it needs to shape each boob, not give you one long boob.
Now, I’ve tried many a strapless bra in my time, and I think I may have found the one. Allow me to introduce you to First Thing. First Thing is an Australian underwear brand that’s known for its minimalist, flattering fits, clean lines, microfibre materials, and breathable power-mesh details. Its bestsellers include The Everyday Bra and, of course, The Strapless Bra, both of which focus heavily on non-padded comfort while still feeling sleek and supportive.
I got my hands on The Strapless Bra (The Everyday Bra was sold out), and I’ve been testing it out for the last three weeks — here are my honest thoughts.

About The Strapless Bra
The Strapless Bra from First Thing has garnered the brand a massive social media following in Australia. It routinely sells out because it challenges everything people usually hate about strapless bras — specifically the digging, the constant slipping, and that rigid, heavily padded, stiff feel.
While traditional strapless bras rely on thick foam padding and heavy strips of sticky silicone to stay up. First Thing took a completely different approach, and instead of padding, it uses double-layered, buttery-soft microfibre or mesh that moulds to your natural shape rather than forcing your boobs into a stiff, pre-formed cup.
It’s completely silicone-free, so all my sweat girlies (or if you have sensitive skin), there are no slippery silicone bands that can cause standard strapless bras to slip or give you a rash. This bra has a cleverly designed snug band tension that holds you in. It also has underwire for lift and structure, but it’s designed to be lightweight and flexible so it sits flush against your ribs without digging in when you sit down.
First impressions
The minute I unboxed the bra, I couldn’t believe how soft and sleek it felt. I don’t think I’ve owned a strapless bra that’s felt sexy, ever. But somehow, this one does.
The size and fit
I think the most impressive part, for me at least, about this strapless bra is the unique mesh cups. The fact that the mould to your boob shape really stood out to me. It felt like both boobs were wrapped in support and comfort. I’m also not a small boobed girlie, not at the moment anyway. I have 10D boobs, and they’re ever-changing because I’m currently breastfeeding, so the fact I can put this on at any time and stage of my cycle and feel confident and comfortably held is magic.
I do believe that no matter what your boob size is, this particular design would leave you feeling just as supported and sexy as I do. The range generally spans from an 8 band up to a 16 band, and A to E cups, while it isn’t the complete size range, they’re trying to cater to as many sizes as they can while still being a small business.
Because the bra doesn’t use silicone to stick to your skin, the band has to do 100 per cent of the heavy lifting. Because of this, the brand explicitly recommends sizing down to your sister size if you want a truly secure, slip-free fit. You can find your sister size here.
I read online reviews where people note that while it feels tight when you first hook it on, it stretches slightly to custom-mould to your ribs, and I found that to be true too.
The price
They have three strapless styles to choose from: The Classic Strapless ($59), The AirShape Strapless ($69), and The Lace Strapless Multiway ($59). I should also mention it comes in multiple colours, black, white, taupe, blush, sand and some limited edition colours like violet and strawberry.

The verdict
Now, I’m not going to get my booobies out on main just to prove how amazing this strapless fit is (I’m a MOM now), but take my word for it. This strapless bra really is the strapless bra. After just three weeks of wear (not continuously, LOL), I’m ready to buy it in every colour I need. I threw my old strapless bra out… the fit is just that good!!
