The Rams, currently 17th in the Championship, could face a points deduction if the case against them is upheld.

In a statement published on Thursday evening, the EFL’s charge follows a review of the Profitability and Sustainability submissions made by the Reds’ rivals.

If proven against them, Phillip Cocu’s side could face a points deduction which would see them drop into relegation trouble.

“The Club will now be referred to an independent Disciplinary Commission, which will hear representations from both the EFL and Derby County.

“As these matters are now subject to proceedings, the EFL will be making no further comment at this time.”
