BBC interpreter becomes unlikely internet star during live broadcast

This is the moment a BBC interpreter became an unlikely internet star.

Following the tragic news of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing, many Brits have been glued to their screen for the latest updates on the developing situation, as King Charles III ascends the throne. There’s been round-the-clock coverage of the Royals, including a 96-gun salute to commemorate Her Majesty’s passing.

And that has been the reason why one BBC deaf signer has gone viral on Twitter. User Daniel Maier joked: “Doesn’t flinch.”

The clip has since been shared nearly 500 times and liked more than 4,000 times. Among those replying to the jape were Bucks Bear, who said: “You'll take someone's eye out with that.”

And David Spence got in on the act with: “Nerves of steel!.” He was joined by Mike Jaimes, adding ‘brave guy!’.

Hilarity was also found in the House of Commons, with Theresa May, former Prime Minister, drawing raucous laughter for her memories of meeting the Queen.
