Scots comedian Janey Godley has taken a swipe at Old Firm fans, as Nicola Sturgeon has warned them not to travel to Blackpool to watch Saturday's game.

Recreating the First Minister's speech today, Janey let loose on football fans who were willing to travel to pubs in England just to watch the match.

And fans were roaring with laughter at Janey's latest sketch.

One said: "Seriously I think Nicola should do all her addresses this way and maybe people would listen."

While another penned: "Take a bow Janey Godley."

Just today, Nicola Sturgeon called on Old Firm fans not to travel to Blackpool pubs for this weekend’s Rangers v Celtic game.

The First Minister made a specific plea to football fans considering breaking out of Glasgow’s pubs lockdown for the big match to stay at home.

The First Minister made the sombre appeal as she called on people to “consider carefully” whether to travel in or out of the five lockdown areas in central Scotland and parts of England as the school holidays approached.

She said: “If you were thinking about going to Blackpool and haven’t booked please do not go. Please do not travel to Blackpool this weekend to see the Old Firm match.”

"Even more specifically, because we know this is an issue and I want to be very clear about this - do not travel to Blackpool this weekend to watch the Old Firm match in a pub."

Sturgeon added: If you do that, you will be putting yourselves and you will be putting other people at risk. Please do not do that this weekend."
