You Know You Want an American Flag on an Italian-Made Motorcycle Helmet

Last week, I embarked on a quest to do something wholly American: build a hunting rifle. Yes, this is still RideApart, I'm not just talking about my new Christensen Arms Ridgeline FFT because I want to show it off. Rather, I'm discussing it because I built it for a story that'll likely drop later this week on American manufacturing.

But while this wouldn't exactly fit the story's central theme of American production, as AGV—the motorcycle helmet manufacturer—is out of Italy, the brand's newest livery absolutely embodies the concept of the ride, i.e., America!

Yes, you see, AGV has created a special limited edition American flag livery that would've made the pictures from my ride that much more patriotic. The only thing that would've been missing is an Evel Knievel jumpsuit.

The limited edition helmet is based on AGV's K1 S race-like model, featuring the sort of stuff you'd want to have when you're going fast around a track. That includes a rear spoiler and the sort of contouring that keeps the wind flowing around you instead of holding you back. It features a thermoplastic shell and meets both ECE 22.06 and DOT safety regs.

There's also the brand's Dry-Comfort interior, a 190-degree shield offered in multiple colors, and available in sizes XS through XXL.

As for the design, AGV states that the helmet colorway will be exclusive to the US market, and that "The Italian heritage brand introduced the new graphic on the K1 S, and features the thirteen horizontal red and white stripes on the right and a blue field of five-pointed white stars on the left." It's then finished in a matte black to give the Stars and Stripes some visual bounce.

Pricing, thankfully, won't break the bank. AGV will offer the K1 S U.S.A. Flag, its official title, for a pretty reasonable $299.95. As for how many AGV plans to make, that wasn't stated, though given it's a limited edition, it's not likely to be that many. So if you're in the market for some patriotic fun in your next helmet, I'd get to searching AGV's site ASAP.
