'You get goosebumps' - Newcastle United signing Ryan Fraser on the 'fear' of St James' Park

Ryan Fraser can't wait to have Newcastle United supporters cheering him on at St James' Park after admitting the crowd instilled 'a little fear' when he was walking out as a Bournemouth player.

The Scotland international has signed a five-year deal with the Magpies and joins on a free transfer after his contract with the Cherries expired earlier this summer.

Fraser, of course, will have to wait to play in front of the fans because of coronavirus but he already has half an idea of what Newcastle supporters are like from his previous visits to Tyneside with Bournemouth.

Fraser's uncle and aunt are Newcastle fans so they have already told him about what to expect - even if he has experienced the roar of the Gallowgate firsthand.

"Playing as the away team in recent seasons, when you drive up to it, it's just got that history," he told NUFC TV.

"When you walk out, you get goosebumps and the crowd are that good, that passionate, that loud that it actually instils a little fear going out.

"You think, 'We're going to be in for it today!' and that's before you've even touched the ball.

"I want to be on the other side of that. I want to be on the other side where when I go out, the fans are going to give me an extra yard and just give everything.

"I can't wait until they're back in the stadium. It's going to be nice. Really nice."
