'You don't realise how lucky you are': Hundreds react to new show The Yorkshire Job Centre

Hundreds of people have reacted to a new Channel 4 show based in Yorkshire that follows people's desperate search for work.

The documentary series The Yorkshire Job Centre follows several people's journeys through Southern House, a Job Centre Plus in the heart of Leeds.

The first episode, which aired last night, August 10, followed Karen, a 61-year-old former account worker struggling to find a new job.

She has been on her own since 2004 and said that unemployment had left her increasingly lonely.

Scores of people reacted to Karen's story and praised for trying to get out there and find a job.

KTG on Twitter said: "I hate TV but I need to tell the world about Karen, the woman on the Yorkshire Job Centre program who I would protect with my life."

Others said that the story line hit home about how difficult it is to solely rely on benefits.

Rob Abdul on Twitter said: "Karen, you are a supermodel. Very impressed with your HMRC role.

"Stay positive. You'll be a great asset any company."

At the end of the show it captures the moment that Karen is offered a job at a shopping centre.

Karen can be heard saying: "Hallelujah."

Reacting on Twitter Karen Gorst said: "Aw I love Karen #yorkshirejobcentre made up she got a job xxx"

Lots of other reactions on social media came from another story based on Kenny who was also trying to find himself a job.
