Leeds United legend Eddie Gray has offered a reminder that Premier League points are more valuable than plaudits following last weekend's defeat to Liverpool.
Marcelo Bielsa's side have been widely praised for their approach at Anfield, where they went toe-to-toe with the Premier League champions only to suffer 4-3 defeat thanks to a 88th-minute penalty.
Leeds get their Elland Road campaign up and running against fellow new boys Fulham this afternoon and Gray says while the manner of last week's performance will give them confidence, they will now need to take that next step forward.
"I think it'll give the players a lot of confidence, but you don't get points for plaudits, that's the thing about football," he said on BT Sport.
"You've got to get results, especially in this league, in the Premier League. And it's tough to come by points. They'll be a lot of tough games to come from the players, but I think they're playing with a lot of confidence. I don't think they'll change their style of play from last season.
"They like to play possession-based football, but its not possession for possession's sake. They get at teams, they work hard, they close teams down and they make it very difficult for sides when they get the ball."
Elland Road will host its first Premier League match for 16 years when they Cottagers visit, but with no fans permitted it will be a bittersweet day for the Leeds United faithful.
"It's definitely worth the wait," Gray, who was in charge of Leeds back in 2004 added. "I'm looking forward to the season, it's just unfortunate in the circumstances we'll not get a packed Elland Road which would be terrific.
"For the players it will be a great feeling to walk out here for their first Premier League game at ER for 16 years.
"The atmosphere inside the ground is so good. It helps the players. It's a great place to be ER when it's full. The atmosphere last season when they played in the Championship was a good as I've ever known it and I've been here a long time.
"The players will miss that, but they've got to overcome it. The most important thing is to try to pick points up. It'll not be easy today against another team that has come up from the Championship. So it will be difficult without the fans, but I'm sure the players will respond."
