You could spot Santa on a Merseyrail train this weekend

Merseyside's rail users could spot Father Christmas on the Merseyrail network this weekend.

Santa will be on the network to check tickets and wish customers a Merry Christmas.

The days to see him will be on Saturday, December 7 and Sunday, 8 from 11am to 1pm.

Father Christmas already delivered a special gift to Liverpool Central’s Mtogo store earlier this week, to signal the launch of a special competition across three stations.

Passengers must guess what the gift is to be in with a chance of winning £200 worth of high street vouchers.

The competition is running from December 2 to 23 and passengers can enter by filling out a form in one of the three stations.

Passengers can also enjoy a spot of carol singing in the run up to Christmas, with performances at the following stations:

  • Liverpool Central: December 3 from 10am to 12pm and 7pm to 8pm; December 5 from 7pm onwards; and December 8, 19 and 20 - times to be confirmed.
  • Hamilton Square: December 5 and 19 from 5pm onwards.
  • Southport: December 22 throughout the day.

There will also be free hot drinks to enjoy on Sunday, December 8 and Sunday, December 15 at participating Costas across the Merseyrail network.

Suzanne Grant, Commercial Director at Merseyrail, said: “Christmas is a very special time of year at Merseyrail and we want to make it as festive as possible for our passengers.
