You could get a job cooking for the King and Queen at Buckingham Palace

With coronation fever still on a high, The Royal Household has advertised a new dream role on LinkedIn for a royal enthusiast who is well-versed in the culinary arts: Demi Chef De Partie for King Charles III and the Queen Camilla.

Based at Buckingham Palace, the successful candidate will work within the Master of the Household’s Office, joining an accomplished team of professionals, working hands-on to deliver food to the highest standards. The chosen candidate will prepare diverse menus for a wide range of events, entertaining the taste buds of the entire Royal Household.

The job is live on LinkedIn here and while it will be based in London, it will also involve travelling to other Royal residences.

LinkedIn’s Career Expert, Charlotte Davies said: “Spending your days preparing menus for the Royal Household including The King and Queen - and getting paid for it - surely has to be the dream job for many royal enthusiasts. Now, for one person, it will become their reality.

In this fast-paced environment, good communication and adaptability are top of The Household’s list of ‘must-have’ skills as well as experience as a professional chef. If you’re thinking about putting yourself forward for the role, which is currently open on LinkedIn, make sure you spotlight in your application how, in previously held roles, you’ve been able to adapt to new challenges and showcase examples of working well within a team.

“Here are four top tips to help you stand out from the crowd, which may well help you land your dream job - Royal or not.”

1. Utilise the 'About' section on your LinkedIn profile. Recent research revealed that 60% of UK professionals are looking to move jobs in 2023, so it’s imperative that candidates use all of the tools at their disposal to stand out from the crowd. On LinkedIn, tailor the ‘About’ section to highlight any skills and experience you have that match what The Royal Household is looking for.

2. Keep your online profiles royally up-to-scratch. Employers often search for candidates online, so it’s important that your social media presence is updated. Even if you have limited previous work experience, make sure to update your LinkedIn profile with relevant skills, qualifications and passions that you’d want your prospective employer to see. Equally, don’t overlook your other public social channels either. Make sure there’s nothing there that would make any of the Royals blush!

3. Confidence is key. These are unique roles, with a very high-profile boss. Very few applicants will have had direct experience working with royalty so if this sounds like your dream role, be confident in your abilities and put your best foot forward in the application.

4. Lean on your online community. Many members on LinkedIn have shared a wide variety of experiences when it comes to applying, interviewing and accepting new roles. Reach out to those in your LinkedIn community for their top tips on how to ace the application process; it's likely you’ll receive some brilliant pieces of advice along with some really helpful do’s and don'ts.
