You can watch the Great British Bake Off in an old Manchester mill... with cake

The Great British Bake Off is British television at its finest.

A dozen amateur bakers flapping around pastel-coloured baking equipment in a marquee in the grounds of a stately home.

What's not to love?

Sometimes there are ducklings outside. And there's always polite banter from hosts Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig.

But when watching it, do you ever wish you could see the cakes on the big screen? See some really massive cherry bakewells, ideally with a beer in hand?

Now, thanks to Chapeltown Picture House, you can! And just in time for biscuit week.

Chapeltown Picture House will screen retro classics (Manchester Evening News)

The independent cinema in the roof space of Crusader Mill on Chapeltown Street will be screening all episodes of the Great British Bake Off live, starting from tomorrow, Tuesday September 3.

There's a tap room on the same floor from local brewery Squawk, as well as several other bars - Track Brewing Co. and Yerrr Bar - elsewhere in the building.

Founded by the same team behind street food fair Grub, Chapeltown Picture House will be inviting in bakeries and professional bakers to prepare sweet treats from next week onwards.

For tomorrow's debut screening though, it will be BYOC - bring your own cake.

Chapeltown Picture House will be showing last week's episode at 6.30pm to get viewers up to speed before screening this week's episode live.

The screening will be entirely free to attend but on a first-come, first-served basis.
