You can turn off Netflix preview autoplay now, and here's how to do it

Everyone who has Netflix loves it - the boxsets, the new shows, the films and the exclusive TV shows.

But there's just one thing - one very annoying thing - that is the bane of everyone who watches Netflix's lives, or 'user interface interaction'.

It's the fact that when you are browsing through the Netflix menu, looking for something to watch, and you happen to rest for a moment over a potential programme for a couple of seconds or more, it starts automatically playing the programme,

It's called the preview autoplay, and is a little bit disconcerting for anyone who doesn't actually want to watch even a second of what they happen to have hovered over while scrolling through.

Given Netflix has many great features - like the one which allows multiple people watch different things at the same time, recommendations, the ability to skip intros, and the ability to download programmes to watch when you're in a train tunnel or something, it's a bit weird that Netflix have created something that isn't particularly user-friendly.

But now, it seems they have sorted it, or at least sorted it for people who really, really don't like being assailed by a loud, full-on chunk of the show.

For now, Netflix have given you the power to turn it off - but doing it is complicated.

Here, thanks to our colleagues at Hull Live, is how you do it.

First step is to manage your profile - there's a couple of ways to get there.

If when you go to Netflix you get a line-up of all the profiles, hit Manage Profiles below them.

Or open Netflix, make sure you are signed in and click your profile icon in the top right hand corner.

Now click the edit pencil on the profile you want to change - this is the same place you go to to change your name or add a picture to your profile icon.

Underneath the bit where you can change the language and maturity setting of your content, there's a tick box.

Untick where it says Autoplay previews while browsing on all devices..

Hit save - and enjoy the rest of your life in peace.

You're welcome.
