You can take a unique backstage tour of the Everyman Theatre but you need to be quick

Theatre fans can now take a glimpse behind the curtain of one of the UK's most famous arts venues thanks to a new backstage tour being offered at the Everyman Theatre - that also includes an afternoon tea.

On the tour, visitors will see all the hidden nooks and crannies not normally open to the public as they are taken through the RIBA Stirling Prize winning building, including backstage to see the dressing rooms, technical space, rehearsal rooms and more.

Once the tour has finished, guests will be taken into the auditorium to have afternoon tea on the famous stage.

The onstage tea will include a glass of prosecco, a selection of sandwiches and cakes, as well as a pot of freshly-brewed tea.

There's a range of dates on offer, with the first tour beginning Tuesday, July 23 at 1.30pm.

The next tour will take place next week on Tuesday, July 30, with a third on Thursday, August 8 - also commencing at 1.30pm.

The final three tours will take place on Tuesday, August 13, 20 and 27.

The tours are only possible over the summer period while the theatre is "dark" and no shows are on, so the opportunity to experience a backstage tour will likely not come about until next year when the season finishes again.

The tour will last around one hour.

Tickets cost £25 and can be booked here.
