You can support local Edinburgh businesses through these new gift boxes available for delivery

An Edinburgh 'gift box' site has been launched to help support small local businesses in the city during the coronavirus outbreak.

'Keep Edinburgh Thriving" will allow the public to purchase gift boxes full of different products from local companies in the capital, featuring food, drink, lifestyle, skincare and other items.

Priced at £39, for every box purchased £2 will be donated to the Edinburgh Food Project, a network of foodbanks providing supplies to those who need it most.

Created by Robbie Allan, the service has been designed to keep struggling niche businesses in the city afloat during a time where many will face financial difficulty.

Robbie told Edinburgh Live:

"I set up Keep Edinburgh Thriving to enable people to continue to ‘shop local’ whilst simultaneously providing a critical lifeline to these businesses, helping them with cash flow and financial sustainability during COVID-19 and beyond.

"The idea itself is a simple one really: We are partnering with a bunch of amazing local businesses in Edinburgh from local artists to coffee makers."

Partners providing items for the boxes include Coco Chocolatier, Eira Soaps, Jump Ship Brewing, Obadiah Coffee and the Scottish Bee Company.

Robbie added:

"We are working with all of these local brands and handling all the logistics and e-commerce side of things for them so that they can continue to grow and sustain their company and livelihood.

"This is a really tough time for our beloved high street, and we want to help as many local Edinburgh businesses as possible. As soon as you place an order this instantly benefits our local partners providing the products in each gift box."

To purchase a 'Keep Edinburgh Thriving' gift box, you can make an order from their website here.
