You can stay the night in this gorgeous Welsh library

One for the book lovers, how about a night in a residential library where you won't be short of bedtime reading material? Anyone staying at Gladstone’s Library in Flintshire will have the freedom to explore their collection of over 150,000 items.

It's the UK's only residential library and you can browse books after hours and take them back to your boutique-style bedroom.

There are no TVs in the bedrooms and the library says this is to "preserve the ethos of study and reflection" but there is a television room that is available for all residents to use.

The library has 26 bedrooms, all unique in their own way, most with en-suite facilities. There's a mixture of single, double, twin rooms and a suite available, depending on your requirements?

Among the regular guests are writers, academics, clergy and students and those with an inquisitive mind and a love for reading. Some use the Library to meet and converse, while others prefer to enjoy the peaceful reading areas in solitude.

Their Reading Rooms are a wonderful setting for a productive and reflective stay, offering silence and space to think and work whilst surrounded by books.

Residents have extended use of the Reading Rooms from 9am - 10pm daily and the Gladstone's Room lounge provides comfortable sofas, newspapers and jigsaws and is a relaxed space to meet and chat with fellow overnight guests.

Gladstone’s Library is also located in a prime spot, just six miles from the famous walled city of Chester and on the doorstep of the wonderful Welsh countryside with lots of places to visit including the historic market town of Mold, St Winefride’s Well, the coastal town of Llandudno, and Snowdonia National park.

There are plenty of scenic walks near the library, as well as the charming village of Hawarden, which is known for the Hawarden Estate Farm Shop which is an attraction in itself.

It's an enjoyable place to discover and purchase fresh produce owned and run by the Gladstone family. Their high-quality meat, including rare-breed pork and game, comes directly from the Hawarden estate and you can also buy a ready-meal made with ingredients fresh from the farm.

Juices on sale in the food hall are made from estate-grown fruit and they make their own pies, quiches and sausage rolls. Hawarden also offers 'Pick your own' with a selection of juicy gooseberries, blackcurrants and redcurrants to gather. Why not pick up some local produce and snacks for your library stay?
