You can stay in an medieval pink castle with private gardens near Edinburgh

With staycations set to be all the range this summer, there are a host of unique and unusual rentals just a short drive from Edinburgh.

If you're feeling like acting like a King or Queen for the weekend, then you could try booking a few days away in a medieval castle in Peebles.

Not only being a little unusual in that it's a stand alone castle, the Airbnb is also a lovely pastel pink colour, making it stand out in amongst the countryside.

Despite having all the modern facilities you would need, the 'mini castle', as it's described, has been decorated in a very traditional style, with a log burning fire and wooden built in bed.

Stocked with all the modern comforts of the 21st century, the historic castle can sleep up to four guests, and even has two bathrooms with toiletries included.

Not suitable for small children, the property has open fires and very steep stairs, which lead up to the main attic bedroom.

Just a short walk from the River Tweed, the location is ideal for visiting sites such as Glentress and Neidpath Castle, as well as being surrounded by some incredible scenery.

The main bedroom is in the attic. (Airbnb)
