You can spend the night at 'Britain's most haunted prison' for a ghost hunt

You can now officially spend the night at ‘Britain’s most haunted prison’ - if you’re brave enough.

Shepton Mallet prison, in Somerset, is currently selling tickets for sleepovers, a perfect getaway for fans of the paranormal and all things slightly spooky.

The prison is home to unmarked graves of executed prisoners, and was host to notorious London gangsters Reggie and Ronnie Kray in the early 50s, reports the MEN.

Throughout the tour visitors can expect to see and hear many terrifying things, giving an insight into the venue’s ‘barbaric’ past.

Guided by staff, visitors will work in small groups to take part in experiments to ‘make contact with whoever or whatever still walks through these prison corridors’.

The official event description reads: “Your ghost hunt at Shepton Mallet will be nothing but intense.

“With the overriding emotions here being that of sheer survival, basic instincts and challenging behaviours, it makes sense that these emotions are still entrenched within the fabric of the building.”

Among the experiments are Ouiji boards, table tipping, glass moving and vigils using ghost hunting equipment.

The sleepover events also involve staying over in some of the scariest locations in the prison.

Prices vary depending on the type of ghost hunt you wish to take part in.
