You can see the moon and five planets from earth tonight

This weekend marks a rare occasion where five planets and the moon will all be visible with the naked eye.

Before sunrise this Sunday, five planets - Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn, as well as the crescent moon, will all be visible in the morning sky at the same time.

The five plants and the crescent moon will all be visible to the naked eye at the same time 45 minutes before sunrise on Sunday.

The planets will align in a curve across the morning sky according to astronomer Dr Jeffrey Hunt.

Although you won't need a telescope, a pair of binoculars might be useful to help you spot the moon, Mercury, and Jupiter because they will be quite low in the sky.

This comes just days after comet Neowise was spotted in the sky above the river Mersey stunning photos.

The pictures captured the moment that Comet Neowise, the best visible comet in the UK for more than twenty years, was caught above the New Brighton skyline.

The comet can be seen burning brightly over New Brighton Lighthouse in a series of beautiful shots.

These stunning photos of the comet were taken by local photographer Kevin Hughes.
