You can see adorable pigs in blankets at Windmill Farm this year

Pigs in blankets have become synonymous with Christmas as millions of people  serve up the lavish side-dish with their festive meals.

But now a Bristol farm has teamed up with a cider brewery to create a whole new meaning to the concept of pigs in blankets.

Orchard Pig donated £500 to Windmill Hill Farm so workers could buy woolly coats to wrap up their piggies and keep them warm this Christmas.

The swine have been counting their lucky trotters with their A/W 2020 attire as December's biting temperatures have resulted in a number of frosty mornings. Each blanket’s design and colours were inspired by Orchard Pig's range of cider drinks, including 'Reveller Blue', 'Truffler Green', and 'Charmer Red’.

Zoe Atkinson, Brand Manager at Orchard Pig, said: "Orchard Pig was born on a farm in the Somerset countryside. Fast forward to 2019, and the cider is available in major cities across the UK so this Christmas we wanted to do something that really went back to our roots.

“The team at Windmill Hill City Farm do a fantastic job caring for animals here and given we are vegan and vegetarian certified, we wanted to let people know that there are other ways to get your fix of pigs in blankets this Christmas. This way is much kinder, not to mention much cuter.”

The Christmas piggy activity comes after a string of farm-friendly stunts from Orchard Pig, who earlier this summer built a giant pink wooden pig that people could rent to stay inside on AirBnB, and a partnership with Meatless Farm to invent the vegan ‘porkie burger’ – made for the love of pigs.
