Dairsie Castle just outside St Andrews looks like something out of a certain sword-slinging fantasy show.
The castle dates back to the 12th-century, and just like Winterfell in Game of Thrones, Dairsie has been the location of secret parliaments, military sieges, and a safe haven for escapee monarchs (James VI and I in 1583). No direwolves have been spotted so far, though.
The castle became a ruin in the 19th Century, but in 1992 it was bought and rebuilt by the current owner who worked hard to restore the castle to its original medieval character, with all the comforts of a modern family home.
The amazing space sleeps 14 people, and you can choose to sleep in 'The Dungeon' - a twin bedroom with a stunning vaulted ceiling, or in the shared bedroom, which has three amazing four poster beds.
If you've got a snorer in your party you could pop them in the Spottiswoode Upper Tower Room, where they'll be as happy as Rapunzel in their lofty sleeping space.
There are 10 other bedrooms to choose from too. You might actually get lost trying to find your pals.
There's also a huge Great Hall for dining and putting your enemies to death, depending on your mood.
Add in extensive grounds and amazing, colourful decor and you get the ultimate friends getaway.
