You can rent an entire fairy-tale Welsh castle to kick off 2020

Fancy starting 2020 by living like royalty?

Well, now wannabe kings and queens can do just that by renting a fairy-tale Welsh castle all to themselves.

And the good news is it won't cost a regal ransom either.

Parties of six can hire out the gothic splendour of Clytha Castle, near Abergavenny which has been transformed into a holiday rental overlooking the Usk Valley.

You can play at being lord or lady of the manor for £682 for four nights - that breaks down to less than £30 a night each, provided there's half a dozen of you.

For that you get a two floors, three spacious bedrooms (two doubles, one twin), a large bathroom, high ceilings, roaring real fires, a stone spiral  staircase and more turrets than you can shake a sceptre at.

There's also a living room with comfy cosy sofas, a flag-stone floored kitchen, ample parking and incredible countryside views, including a grove of old chestnut trees.

Having laid empty for nearly three decades prior to the Landmark Trust taking it over and giving a a revamp in 1974, this architect-designed late 18th century folly was the brainchild of one William Jones, who commissioned its build in memory of his late wife.

It was previously used as a home for the local gamekeeper and is available to rent from January 3.
