You Can Now Use Veo 3 in the Gemini API

Google’s most advanced video generation model, Veo 3, is now officially available in the Gemini API. It was first showcased at Google I/O 2025, and it comes with a high-fidelity video generation with native audio support to developers, researchers, and enterprises looking to build or prototype video experiences within the Gemini ecosystem.

With this release, developers can start using Veo 3 directly from Google AI Studio, where it’s available as an SDK template and a fully functional Starter App. Pricing starts at $0.75 per second of output for both video and audio, with a more affordable Veo 3 Fast variant on the way.

What Veo 3 Brings to the Gemini API?

Veo 3 is capable of handling tasks like cinematic storytelling, realistic human movement, and dynamic in-game animations. Some of the key features include Synchronized Sound, Cinematic Visuals, and Realistic Motion.

According to Google, developers are already using it. For example, Cartwheel is using Veo 3 to convert 2D video of humans into realistic 3D character animation, while Volley is creating in-game cutscenes with it for its upcoming RPG, Wit’s End.

How to Get Started?

Veo 3 is available to Paid Tier users via the Gemini API. A Python sample shared in the documentation shows how to generate a simple video by prompting Veo 3 to render a golden retriever playing in a sunflower field, complete with synchronized visuals and audio.

Furthermore, to encourage responsible use, all Veo 3 outputs include a digital SynthID watermark. Developers can explore additional resources like the Veo cookbook, API documentation, and example apps in Google AI Studio.

That’s all on the Veo 3 for now, but Google isn’t done yet. Recently, it made the Gemini Embedding model available to everyone. Already a top performer on the MTEB Multilingual benchmark, the model supports search, classification, and retrieval use cases. It’s available in both free and paid tiers, with pricing starting at $0.15 per million tokens.
