The Oracle Database@AWS is now generally available. It allows enterprises to run Oracle Database services, including Oracle Exadata Database Service and Oracle Autonomous Database, on dedicated Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) deployed within AWS data centers.
Starting with the AWS U.S. East (N. Virginia) and U.S. West (Oregon) regions, Oracle Database@AWS will roll out to 20 more AWS regions globally. It will allow organizations to deploy Oracle databases in the cloud environments they already use, while using the core capabilities of OCI.
The goal is to simplify database migration and integration, especially for enterprises looking to modernize IT systems without disrupting their existing cloud architecture. Customers can run Oracle Database 23ai, which includes embedded AI Vector Search, enabling semantic search across documents, images, and relational data.
One of the key features of Oracle Database@AWS is its zero-ETL integration. It allows data to move between Oracle databases and AWS analytics services without the need for custom pipelines. This helps businesses to tap into AWS services like analytics, machine learning, and generative AI with less complexity and faster implementation.
Furthermore, to support the enterprise use cases, the service includes Oracle RAC for high availability, AWS Availability Zones for resiliency, Amazon S3 for backup and disaster recovery, Compatibility with tools like Oracle Zero Downtime Migration, and Integration with AWS services such as IAM, CloudFormation, CloudWatch, and VPC Lattice.
From a management perspective, customers can use familiar AWS tools, including the AWS Management Console, CLI, and APIs, to operate Oracle workloads. Purchasing is also streamlined via AWS Marketplace, allowing customers to apply existing AWS commitments and Oracle license benefits such as Bring Your Own License (BYOL) and Oracle Support Rewards.
Apart from that, the launch also supports a wide range of Oracle enterprise applications, including Oracle E-Business Suite, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, EPM, and Retail Applications.
