If you have an Amazon Echo we’re pretty confident you’re going to love this new hidden feature which has finally made its way on to UK devices.
A new update allows you to hold conversations with your device using hushed tones.
First launched in the US, Whisper Mode is now available on multiple devices in the UK and means that Alexa won’t respond quite so loudly when you ask it a question.
If you have an Echo device, you'll know Alexa occasionally answers a question quite loudly, particularly if your last interaction with her was asking to play your favourite song at full blast.
But, Whisper Mode is now here to ensure this doesn't happen in the future, reports The Express.
The clever new feature is aimed at not disturbing other people in the house when answering questions late at night or early in the morning.
To set up Whisper Mode on Alexa follow these simple steps:
- Open the Alexa app
- Go to Settings
- Click Voice Responses
- Activate Whispered Responses
The feature should work on all models including the Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Show and new Echo Studio.
And the fun doesn't end with Whisper Mode - Amazon has also revealed a bunch of new things you can ask Alexa to do.

Ask Alexa to make announcements on all compatible Echo devices in your household or the Alexa app.
“Alexa, what’s my Flash Briefing?”
You can manage your news in the settings of your Alexa app. Just open the Alexa app and select from the menu Settings, Flash Briefing. Tap the plus icon to select your favourite Flash Briefing skills and edit the order to customise what content plays first.
“Alexa, what films are playing?”
“Alexa, how's my commute?”
“Alexa, give me a cottage pie recipe”
“Alexa, do I have any appointments today?”
