You can now order takeaway food from your favourite restaurants through Instagram

Nothing gets us hungrier than scrolling through food posts on Instagram.

Now the social media platform has added a new feature that will allow users to order takeaways straight from the app.

The update means that it's easier than ever for Instagram users to support restaurants and bars during lockdown.

The social media platform has added a 'food orders' sticker to its story features.

When users see the sticker in a restaurant's Instagram story, they'll be able to click it and be taken through to the takeaway menu to place an order- all without leaving the app.

The sticker works for any businesses who have Deliveroo and/or Uber Eats delivery services.

It's one of several new sticker features that Instagram has added in the last few weeks to support companies and charities that have been affected by the lockdown.

The social media giant also launched a donation sticker and a gift card sticker in recent weeks.

In a post on its website, Instagram said: "Small businesses are an important part of our community, and many are facing immense challenges during the COVID‑19 crisis.

"Today, we’re making it easier to discover gift cards, online food orders, and fundraisers on Instagram so you can support the businesses you love.

"For many businesses right now, every sale helps."
