You can now hire an inflatable pub for your garden while your local is closed

UK pubs closed their doors due to lockdown restrictions on March 20. That's 84 days we've gone without them - not that anyone is counting.

With the sunny weather returning, Brits are dreaming of the day they'll be allowed back into their local for a few refreshing pints.

But for those simply unwilling to wait any longer, there may be another solution.

That's because punters are being given the opportunity to pull pints from their back garden by hiring an inflatable pub complete with beer tables, benches and a sounds system for £495.

Current coronavirus lockdown rules means you'll be able serve people in your household or five of your friends - and with the pop-up pub providing the capacity to entertain 40 people, you won't have any problems maintaining the two metre social distancing rules with your limited lock in.

You'll need a pretty big garden to house it though, as the Tudor-style boozer with a wooden bar and inflatable kegs is 20ft high, 25ft in length and 20ft wide.

Owners of the Inflatable Pub Company say it's been in hit in lockdown with people hiring them for household-only celebrations - adding they have strict cleaning procedures in a bid to keep them safe during the pandemic.

Claire Lambert said: "People might not be able to go out and enjoy a drink at their local at present but with the inflatable pub you can bring your local to your back garden.

"The pub has a real wow factor. You can serve behind the bar and be your own landlord or landlady and you can set your own last orders.

"People have been having special household-only birthday parties and hiring the inflatable pub as an eye-catching addition.

"I would use the pub for a special birthday or gathering with friends. It's a more interesting and cheaper alternative to a function room - I think it's amazing."

Jimmy Duffy, who also works for the company, said: "We have a strict cleaning procedure and we clean the inflatables thoroughly before they go out and after they're used.

"We also encourage customers to clean the pubs themselves after use. They're very quick to put up and our staff ensure they're anchored into the ground properly.

"My aim is to enjoy life and give back as much as I can to communities and providing the pub to people as a bit of fun is a way of doing this."
