You can now get cappuccinos in a can as Lavazza launch first premium iced coffee

Canned drinks are having a bit of a moment right now thanks to a certain headline-topping train mojito, and now our morning caffeine hit has also got a tinned transformation.

As you can now get your coffee shop quality cappuccino in a can, with Lavazza pairing up with PepsiCo to launch the first premium ready-to-drink iced coffee in the UK.

Having officially launched today at Wimbledon, each 250ml can will set you back £1.70 at Sainsbury's, or £1 at Ocado.

If you've forgotten your flask, it could also be a way to cut down on waste instead of getting a single use coffee cup, with each can being 100% recyclable.

Lavazza's launch follows in the footsteps of fellow coffee brands such as Starbucks and Nescafe , who have also launched canned iced coffee variations, as well as vegan favourite Rebel Kitchen iced coffee mylk.

Transforming the coffee-shop favourite into a chilled, on-the-go drink, Lavazza has combined their quality coffee sourcing and roasting with the beverage giant's Pepsico to try tap into the increased demand for premium iced coffee.

According to Lavazza, the UK launch is the first step of a strategic collaboration between the 120-year-old coffee company and PepsiCo in Europe, aimed at innovating in this rapidly growing segment.

Following the launch, both companies plan to work together to broaden the offering even further with new products, as well as expanding into new markets next year in 2020.

Talking about the new drink, Sergio Cravero, Chief Marketing Officer of Lavazza Group, said “We are proud to cooperate with PepsiCo as we enter the fast growing iced coffee segment for the first time.”

“Lavazza’s commitment to quality, combined with PepsiCo’s expertise, allows us to explore and offer in certain strategic markets more and more ways to enjoy coffee, in line with the international vocation of the Group to grow on a global scale.”

Meanwhile Mark Kirkham, Vice President and Head of Marketing, PepsiCo West Europe Beverage, added “PepsiCo is very excited to be introducing Lavazza Iced Cappuccino to the UK market.

This is the start of a collaborative partnership with Lavazza where we plan to innovate and bring to market new offerings based on consumer insights and preferences in the growing premium coffee space. We look forward to building on this initial offering and setting the stage for European expansion in 2020.”
