You can now get a Rafa Benitez burger in Newcastle and even Sky Sports presenters have tried it

He recently had the lyrics of a famous song re-written in his honour and now Rafa Benitez has inspired a burger that has just launched in Newcastle.

Following hot on the heels of Newcastle singer Paulie Belta re-works Shake Senora for Rafa Benitez and the video is amazing - a re-working of Harry Belfanonte's Jump in Line - comes the Rafa Bear-nitez, a culinary creation inspired by the Newcastle United boss from Newcastle city centre bar and restaurant The Purple Bear.

The chefs at the Prudhoe Chare haunt came up with the idea in time for the latest Battle of the Burgers at Wylam Brewery over Easter weekend and, while it didn't help them win the competition, with Lola Jeans wins Wylam Brewery's Battle of the Burger for the fifth time in a row once again, it's won them plenty of admirers, including a Sky Sports presenter.

The interesting looking burger comprises of a charcoal brioche bun containing a beef burger, beef dripping, garlic puree, Emmental cheese and celeriac and horseradish slaw.

And Sky Sports' Keith Downie got his mouth round one before heading to St James' Park to see Newcastle beat Southampton on Saturday.

If the Rafa Bear-nitez didn't tickle your tastebuds enough, Battle of the Burger customers had the chance to upgrade to an Alan Bearer - which is all of the same ingredients along with an extra beef patty, pastrami and pickles.

If the Rafa burger sounds like your kind of thing, you can get one for free from The Purple Bear right now.

Taking to Facebook on Tuesday evening, they posted "‘Who wants a FREE burger???

"First 50 people to get to the bar, like, share AND tag a pal gets a free Rafa Bear-Nitez burger

"Strictly a first come first served basis. Evidence of the liking and sharing shall be required."
