You can now find out which restaurants are offering 50% off with Eat Out to Help Out Scheme - here's how

From next Monday eating out is set to be a little bit cheaper.

Following months of being completely shut down and customers shut out, a new scheme will help pubs and restaurants be busy again by encouraging customers to dine-in.

The Eat Out to Help Out scheme will see participating businesses offering a 50% discount to customers on dine-in meals which can be used unlimited times from August 3 to 31.

But the businesses, which were allowed to reopen from July 4, won't be out of pocket as they will then be able to claim the money back from the government.

The maximum amount of money diners can save is £10 per head, per meal and is redeemable from Monday to Wednesday.

However, it can't just be used anywhere as pubs, restaurants and cafés need to sign up to the scheme.

Participating establishments may include:

  • restaurants, cafés, bars or pubs
  • work and school canteens
  • food halls

To make the most of the offer, you do not need a voucher and you can use it at the same time as other offers and discounts.

There is also no minimum spend.

The discount will be automatically available to you at participating establishments.

It is already known that the likes of Nando's, Pizza Hut and Wagamama have signed up to the scheme but there's a way of finding out the places closest to you.

Over on the gov.uk website, you can enter your postcode and it will detail all the venues offering the discount within a two mile radius of the postcode you use.

The government does add that some restaurants may not have registered for the scheme yet so it could always be worth checking with your favourite restaurant or pub to see if they are signed up.
