You can now buy vegan tuna from Morrisons

Tuna mayonnaise is a staple sandwich filling in the UK – and now vegans can eat it too.

Morrisons has become the first UK supermarket to stock vegan tuna, it was revealed today, as the supermarket announced it will be adding Loma Linda TUNO to its shelves this week.

Already popular in Australia and the US for its high protein count, the TUNO product is made from soya protein that claims to replicate the same flaky texture as real tuna.

The TUNO range boasts five different flavours of tuna, including lemon pepper, spring water, mayo, sesame and ginger and Thai sweet chilli.

The product will be found in the tinned fish aisle and will come in 142g cans and 85g ‘on the go’ pouches – and each serving is just 100 calories.

Morrisons tuna buyer, Robert Wilson said in a statement: “We have listened to so many customers who want an easy alternative to tuna, that’s high in protein and can be used in much the same way.

“TUNO provides a convincing alternative for sandwiches, pasta and salads.”

Loma Linda TUNO will be available this week from Morrisons and costs £1.30 for a 142g can.
