You can now buy pub-scented candles for when you're missing your Edinburgh local

Let's face it, we all really miss the pub - the sticky carpets, the stale smell of beer and munching endless packets of pork scratchings.

Fortunately you can now recreate your favourite Edinburgh boozer at home thanks to the efforts of a candlemaking duo.

London-based Paul Firmin and Niko Dafkos created charity candles to remind customers of places hit by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, with scents of the pub, the cinema, and festivals.

Profits will be donated to Hospitality Action, which supports UK hospitality workers affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

The pair collaborated with creative studio Uncommon to create the three candle scents.

Flavours include The Festival, which smells of cut grass and cider, The Local, with scents of cigarette smoke and rose wine, and The Cinema, which smells of popcorn and banana pick-and-mix sweets.

The full description for The Local reads: "Top notes of spilt beer, hair pomade and chip fat jostle amongst a pungent base of varnished teak and sticky carpet.

"A waft of testosterone gives way to the ersatz-lemon of a urinal block, as the salted breath of pork scratchings is soused in cheap rosé and freckled with cigarette ash.

"A potent fragrance that lingers, like the melancholy ramblings of an old inebriate."
