The nation’s love affair with gin has seen sales reach record highs, but it seems tonic is no longer the only mixer people want to drink alongside it.
This year, there has been a rise in alternative flavours, including pink gin, marshmallow gin and a gin that changes colour.
A new version has also been launched that takes just like Parma Violet sweets.
Available from a number of different suppliers, thousands of fans have shared photographs of the tipple on social media.
So, what does it taste like and where can you buy it?
According to a number of reviews on Amazon, Zymurgorium Sweet Violet Gin really does taste like the iconic British sweet which has been on the market for more than 70-years.
“If you like Parma Violets, then buy this! Really lovely treat,” one reviewer wrote.
Another added: “Might be my favourite gin ever! Tastes just like Parma Violets, absolutely gorgeous.”
The latest launch to hit the shelves comes from craft spirit producer JJ Whitley which says its violet gin contains eight different botanical flavours, including juniper, angelica root, coriander, liquorice and a splash of violet.
It costs £14.99 and is available to buy at B&M stores right now.
“Violet gin as a concept is a good summer idea for those who like to add a little colour to their drink, but the idea itself is nothing new,” wine and spirits expert Adrian Smith tells The Independent. “Over the years we’ve had many flavoured gins come and go and my gut tells me this will just be another fad.
“Here’s what interests me here though. I’m wondering how much of that violet is natural vs. a colouring agent to make things pretty and purple. While some will be focusing on pureness, others undoubtedly won’t."
