Typical gifts on the day vary from lingerie to chocolate and perfume to flowers but forget buying your lover a bouquet of roses or carnations as an award-winning restaurant in Cheltenham will be serving up a bespoke fish and chips bouquet to happy couples this year.
Simpsons, on Priors Road, launched the special meal last year and the British themed Valentine’s Day treat will return again this February thanks to popular demand from loved up customers.
Served exclusively on Friday 14 February, the bouquet is made of a dozen potato roses and fish goujons in the place of petals.
The meal is served in a newspaper and everything is hand-tied together to form the shape of a traditional flower bouquet.
The culinary piece of art is the work of Bonny Ritche, Simpson’s founder and development chef.
Bonny says: “Everyone knows the real way to a person’s heart is through their stomach, so we’re bringing back our twist on the traditional bouquet of a dozen red roses with our entirely edible offering.
"What better way to reel in your Valentine than with this tasty treat?”
Priced at £15, the fish and chip flowers are a bargain and a cheaper romantic gesture than a bunch of roses which can cost up to £40.
With this fun food alternative, your Valentine’s Day gift and your meal are sorted for one price.
Much like Simpsons who are offering this fish and chip bouquet as a Valentine’s Day exclusive, big supermarkets like Asda will also join in on the affair.
Asda have launched a limited edition pink gin liqueur which is flavoured with cherry blossom and has been designed with romance and the aromas of Japan in mind.
