You can now book to take your dog to a huge 2-acre play park in Newport

A pet adoption service has answered the calls of dog owners across South Wales - by opening its dog play park up to the public for the first time.

Newport City Dogs Home on Stephenson Street, Newport has opened up its two-acre play park for dog owners to book in advance.

The play park has some agility dog equipment including seven-foot plus fences, and is likely to be popular among those who want to put their pups through their paces, especially for those whose dogs are nervous around other animals.

The play park is available for hire seven days a week from 9.30am-4pm Monday-Thursday and 9.30am-3pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The cost of booking is £5 for 30 minutes for one dog and £2 extra per resident dog (for example, £7 for 2 dogs, £9 for three dogs) per household.

Extra field hire can be booked as an extra 30 minute slot.

"We’re excited to share that our two-acre play park which has some agility equipment is finally available for public hire," Newport City Dogs Home said.

"When registering your interest, please ensure you attach a photo of your dogs vaccination card, as w are unable to process your request without it. All dogs using our play park must be fully vaccinated or titre tested."

Newport City Dogs Home is run by Newport City Council and is responsible for taking in and rehoming stray and abandoned dogs.
