You can legally swim in Leeds Dock this summer - if you sign a waiver first

Open water swimming will be available to try in Leeds this summer.

Leeds Dock have announced on Facebook that the first series of open water swimming sessions will start on August 7.

There will be a life guard on hand to oversee each session at the Leeds city centre dock, and there will also be buoys in the water to clearly mark out the permitted space to swim.

All those who are taking part will also be required to sign a safety waiver before they attend their open-water swimming session.

In the statement announcing the event, which was shared earlier today (13/07), organisers said: “A wetsuit, googles and swimming cap are strongly advised.

“Please note that due to COVID-19 restrictions that there will be no changing facilities or equipment available.

“All ticketholders will be required to sign a safety waiver before they attend their open-water swimming session.

“In addition, it is expected that all ticketholders are physically able to swim at least 750m non-stop in a pool before they dive into the world of open water swimming.”

Each session lasts 1 hour and tickets cost £5 per person.
