You can guess where the Jags land in the newest USA TODAY Sports NFL power rankings

Jacksonville continues to move in the right direction offensively, as running back James Robinson had his best game of the year on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans, and rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence played very sharply for the second week in a row. But with the way this defense is playing, that wasn’t even enough to be competitive against the Jaguars’ division rival.

The Titans won 37-19, sending the Jags to an 0-5 start and their 20th consecutive loss, the most for any team since the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 1970s. There is a sense of futility in Jacksonville despite having a very talented quarterback prospect, and it’s not surprising that Nate Davis ranked the team 32nd once again in his NFL power rankings for USA TODAY Sports.

Urban Meyer said Sunday that rookie Trevor Lawrence was “not quite comfortable with” quarterback sneaks. Lawrence said otherwise. Discuss amongst yourselves.

A poor goal-line play-calling sequence in the second half, which Davis is referring to here, kept this game from being potentially interesting in the final quarter. Meyer faced a lot of scrutiny for taking Robinson out of the game on fourth and goal, as well as for not trusting Lawrence, who had already scored on the ground, to take it in.

The Jags will now head to London for an early-morning (EDT) matchup against the Miami Dolphins, who hope to get quarterback Tua Tagovailoa back for that game. With matchups after that at Seattle and Indianapolis and at home against the Bills and 49ers, this may be Jacksonville’s last chance to win a game for a while.
