You can get Christmas presents wrapped at MetroCentre and Eldon Square

You can take the stress out of Christmas shopping by getting your gifts wrapped by an expert - and raise vital funds for charity.

Both Eldon Square in Newcastle and Gateshead's MetroCentre are offering a Christmas gift-wrapping service, in exchange for charitable donations.

Presents of all shapes and sizes can be handed over to the skilled wrappers at both shopping centres. Eldon Square's gift wrapping service will be raising money for The Children's Foundation, a charity that aims to improve the lives of children in the North East. The present wrappers can be found outside Fenwick, inside Eldon Square.

Sean Soulsby, CEO at The Children’s Foundation, said: "It’s amazing that The Children’s Foundation is this year again running the wrap stand supported by intu Eldon Square. The Children’s Foundation exists to improve the health and wellbeing of children and young people here in the North East tackling the challenges of childhood at a grass roots level with families, children, young people and communities.

"Support from the North East public is always overwhelming and every penny donated remains here in the region. So, if you want your Christmas wrapped up early come along and see us between the 12th and 24th December."

The MetroCentre's gift wrappers will raise cash for Marie Curie, which provides care for the terminally ill. The gift wrapping service can be found in Upper Town Square, near Oasis. It will be the twentieth year the service has raised money for Marie Curie, with £47,535 donated so far.

Laura Robinson, community fundraiser at Marie Curie, said: "Marie Curie is delighted to be welcomed back to intu Metrocentre for our 20 year of Christmas Wrapping!  We are so grateful to have this wonderful opportunity to raise essential funds for our patients and their families living with terminal illnesses while providing a lovely service to the Christmas shoppers.

"Our volunteers very kindly offer their time and wrapping skills to make this event the huge success that it is and are thrilled to see so many people returning to us year after year."

Gavin Prior, regional director at intu, said: "We’re thrilled to announce our gift-wrapping pop-up stations, supporting The Children’s Foundation at intu Eldon Square and Marie Curie at intu Metrocentre. During such a busy time, it’s fantastic to be able to offer our customers a useful service which is available in the lead up to Christmas, all in the name of two outstanding charitable causes."
