A new public appeal is calling on people to donate to a central fund to give NHS staff and essential workers a much-needed holiday at a B&B, vacation rental, hotel or pub with rooms in the aftermath of COVID-19.
The NHS & Key Worker Holiday Fund is a donation platform launched by online booking specialist, eviivo. The initiative came from eviivo employees, and their donations were of course matched by the company with an opening contribution of £4,000. It is now asking the public to donate in order to offer as many NHS staff & key workers as possible the breaks they deserve.
Any money raised will be used to fund special holiday vouchers for NHS staff & key workers to spend on a number of online booking platforms linked to the Stays for Heroes website.
Members of the public or employers can nominate a key worker to receive a voucher for a stay in a B&B, vacation rental, hotel or pub with rooms.
Paul Saxby, Marketing Director at eviivo, said: “What the NHS staff & key workers working on the frontline are doing is amazing. While the nation has been at home waiting for this to end, they have been out there battling this deadly virus and saving lives, often in isolation away from their families and friends.
“This fund is just a small way for us all to say thank you. When this is all over, they will need a well-earned break and given what they have sacrificed over the past few months, we want to help them do this.
“At the same time, the independent accommodation sector has been one of the hardest hit. We hope that the fund will also go some way towards helping our great British
B&Bs and holiday rental businesses up and down the country to get back on their feet too. Our employees care deeply and we want to encourage as many people as possible to donate what they can to help give them a well-deserved break.”
