You can buy a £5 meal for homeless and vulnerable hit hard by coronavirus crisis

A fundraiser to help those hit hardest by the coronavirus crisis has been organised by itison for Social Bite.

Tomorrow (Wednesday, May 13) at 9am, big-hearted Scots are being asked to donate £5 to buy a food pack for the most vulnerable, including people experiencing homelessness, families relying on school meals and the elderly.

itison and Social Bite's campaign is aiming to get vital food packs to as many people that are struggling as possible - for those that need now-closed food banks, people that have lost their jobs in the pandemic and more.

Oli Norman, CEO at itison said: “We’ve been partnering with Social Bite since 2014 and every year we’re blown away by the generosity of our members. Tomorrow, we’re asking for your help again, to help those hardest-hit by this crisis. It’s never been more important that we look out for each other - by donating £5, you’ll be putting food on people’s tables at a time when they truly need our help.”

For every £5 donation, Social Bite will provide a fresh food pack of a sandwich, snack and drink to someone in need. The charity is working with over 75 charities and community groups across Scotland to reach those in need. Social Bite cafes are also open to those experiencing homelessness.

Josh Littlejohn, Co-founder of Social Bite added: “We’ve already been able to help thousands, but demand grows every single day and donations like yours will make a massive difference to the work that we’re doing to help the most vulnerable people in the country. Every year, we couldn’t do what we do without you, so once again we’d love you to get behind the campaign, share it with all your friends and help the people who need it the very most.”
