You Are What You Eat returns after 14 years as Trisha Goddard replaces Gillian McKeith

Trisha Goddard is reportedly replacing Gillian McKeith as the host of Channel 5's You Are What You Eat.

The hit show - which was previously aired on Channel 4 - is making a long-awaited comeback after a 14-year break from our TV screens.

The series - which is reportedly set to air later this year - will be fronted by Trisha, who had recently returned from the US after spending a decade working there.

According to The Sun, bosses at the show's original production company were keen to revive the format, which saw contestants vow to slim down in eight weeks by ditching their bad eating habits.

"The production company, CPL, were keen to breathe new life into it, and who better to do that than Trisha, who is so well loved and respected by viewers," a source told the publication.

“They hope she will bring a fresh impetus to a popular show. And Channel 5 were delighted to give her and the series a new home.”

What's more, Trisha has since vowed to help the nation transform their eating habits after working out which foods not only helped her physical health, but impacted positively on her mental health.

"There has been extra stress on us recently because so many of us have been forced to drastically change routines, and while our social lives have shrunk, the same can’t always be said for our waistlines," she told the publication.

“There is nothing more uplifting than finding how to create the best version of yourself.”

The Mirror has contacted Channel 5 and Trisha's reps for comment.

The hit series smashed viewing figures when it aired on Channel 4 for four series from 2004 to 2007.
