Keith Hackett’s verdict
1) They may see the corner as the best advantage you can give them in this situation, but it’s just not an option. The defender has committed two bookable offences in separate incidents, so the game stops there. Show him two yellow cards then a red, and restart with a direct free-kick from where the second offence was committed.
Geoff Blake wins the shirt.
2) It’s pretty clear disrespect – an arrogant attempt to undermine your authority. Give him a final warning and remind him that officials are instructed to confirm all names to avoid the sort of errors that can arise when only numbers are recorded. If he continues to act up, show him a second yellow.
Thanks to Joe Vaughan.
3) Yes. The substitution hasn’t been completed until the departing player has stepped off the field of play and the replacement has stepped on. So he can reverse the change if he thinks that’s the best way of handling the situation. Include what happened in your report.
Thanks to Jacob Adams.
