Some of the most read stories on the Echo's site are about crime and punishment.
We have a permanent Crown Court reporter in Neil Docking and a permanent Magistrates Court reporter in Lauren Wise, as well as our crime reporter Joe Thomas.
You can follow them on Facebook by following those links and you can join more than 56,000 other people on our Liverpool court cases and crime stories Facebook group too.
Crime affects the whole community and, although it's just a small part of life in Merseyside and a fraction of what cover in the ECHO, it's important that people know about it and that they see that people are punished for it.

Every day we report on what happens in our courts and it's a rare day that goes by when commenters on our articles don't disagree with a judge's sentence.
Judges have to balance punishment and the need to protect society by jailing a defendant against a potential greater benefit in trying to reform them with a sentence carried out in the community.
It's tricky and they spend years honing their judgement before passing their first sentence.
