Yosuke Ideguchi reveals Celtic nickname as he admits Kyogo Furuhashi has set the bar for new recruits

January recruit Yosuke Ideguchi has told Celtic fans and his teammates that he wants to be knows as "Guchi" after arriving at Lennoxtown.

The 25-year-old has joined the club from Gamba Osaka on a four-and-half-year contract and has arrived in Scotland following the Hogmanay reveal.

The Japan international will wear the number 21, and while it may say his first name on the back he told the club website he wants to be know by another name.

On the move, he said: “When I was in Japan, I watched his team and I was interested in the style, so I’m excited to be able to join his team.

“I’ve spoken to the manager and he said that he’s looking for me bring my style of play to the team.

"It certainly helps me in joining Celtic to have Daizen and Reo here are well, and I’m hoping to contribute to the team along with them."

Ange Postecoglou knows the J-League well and recruited Kyogo from Vissel Kobe in the summer.

He's been a smash-hit with 16 goals already, so 'Guchi' knows there is a lot to live up to for himself and fellow Japanese stars Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda.

Ideguchi added: “Kyogo is already contributing to the team so, like Kyogo, I want to be able to contribute to the team, although our playing styles are different.

“How Kyogo is playing is already big news in Japan. I respect him and I’m really looking forward to playing with him, along with my other team-mates.”
