Yosuke Ideguchi aims to replicate Celtic striker Kyogo's success as new signing explains nickname

Yosuke Ideguchi is eager to have a similar impact to Kyogo at Celtic as he looks forward to playing with the striker and fellow new signings Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate.

The new Hoops recruit, who wants to be known as 'Guchi', joined the club from Gamba Osaka on a four-and-a-half-year deal on New Year's eve.

His arrival alongside Maeda and Hatate and the summer signing of Kyogo mean Celtic now have four Japanese stars on their books.

Ideguchi also said he is relishing the prospect of playing for Ange Postecoglou, who arrived at Parkhead from Yokohama F. Marinos in June.

He said: "When I was in Japan, I watched his team and I was interested in the style, so I’m excited to be able to join his team.

"I’ve spoken to the manager and he said that he’s looking for me bring my style of play to the team.

"It certainly helps me in joining Celtic to have Daizen and Reo here are well, and I’m hoping to contribute to the team along with them.

"Kyogo is already contributing to the team, so, like Kyogo, I want to be able to contribute to the team, although our playing styles are different.

"How Kyogo is playing is already big news in Japan. I respect him and I’m really looking forward to playing with him, along with my other team-mates."
