Yoshinori Muto 'satisfied' with goal but vows to continue working hard for Newcastle United

Yoshinori Muto says that his goalscoring exploits against West Ham must be merely the start of his hard work at Newcastle United this season.

The Japan striker netted the winner in Shanghai to beat the Hammers and he is eager to grasp his chance in the Toon frontline.

Muto scored just once for Newcastle last season in the 3-2 defeat at Manchester United.

Looking back on his match winner, Muto said: "We showed a great performance and played well.

"I scored a goal too so I am satisfied.

"We are still not 100%

"So we have to keep working hard.

"We have to improve our condition."

Newcastle ended the Premier League Asia Trophy on a high with the slender win.

Muto told NUFC TV: "I am really happy to score but that is my job.

"Every game I have to try to score."

New head coach Steve Bruce and his assistants, Steve Agnew and Stephen Clemence, watched on from the stands as the Magpies turned out a much better performance that the 4-0 defeat against Wolves.
