Yoshinori Muto's message to Newcastle fans after 'tough' first season

Yoshinori Muto has vowed to come back stronger after a testing first season at Newcastle United.

The Japan international’s move from Bundesliga side Mainz is yet to reach its potential after a £9.5million switch last summer.

Muto has had to be patient and wait for his chance under Rafa Benitez, but has had a series of appearances from the bench during the last few games of the season.

After the season ended, Muto took to Instagram to send a message to fans.

He said: “Thank you very much for your wonderful support throughout the season. It was a tough season for me, not reaching expectations.

“I wished I would have scored a lot more goals in front of such wonderful fans.

“For the next season, I will try my best to contribute to the club with lots of goals.

“I am really looking forward to seeing the wonderful supporters next season!”
