FRESNO, Calif. _ Less than two weeks after Yosemite National Park partially reopened to the public, officials are slowing the process down some after seeing a spike in coronavirus cases in California.
Parts of the park, including two campgrounds _ Upper Pines (at 50% capacity) and Wawona Horse Camp _ were reopened earlier this month after being closed since March 20 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Officials at the time said they didn't know if or when more campgrounds could open.
On Tuesday, the park announced that reservations with arrival dates through July 31 have been canceled for Bridalveil Horse Camp, Crane Flat, Hodgdon Meadow, Lower Pines, North Pines and Tuolumne Meadows.
Upper Pines would remain at 50% capacity.
According to www.recreation.gov, reservations at those sites for Aug. 1 and beyond may be honored if the park is cleared to open additional campgrounds.
