Yorkshire Ripper Peter Sutcliffe 'wants IVF baby' with American pen pal

Yorkshire Ripper Peter Sutcliffe is reportedly hoping to convince an American pen pal to have an IVF baby.

Sutcliffe, 73, a prisoner in HMP Frankland, County Durham, wants to have a child with 27-year-old Krystal Smith, according to reports.

The Mirror reports the pair have been writing to one another for a year and have yet to meet, although Miss Smith has reportedly looked into whether conjugal visits are allowed in the UK.

Serial killer Sutcliffe has asked his ex-wife Sonia for permission to get remarried. A source compared the 73-year-old to a 'lovesick teen' and said Miss Smith sent him perfumed letters, according to the Sun.

According to the newspaper, Sutcliffe told a friend: "She’s a lovely looking girl. She has been mentioning for a while that she’d like to be the next Mrs Sutcliffe.

"So I said ‘Yes’. Her parents have told her they support the wedding.”

Sutcliffe was jailed for life in 1981 for murdering 13 women and trying to kill seven more between 1975 and 1980.

He shared a home with Sonia at the time of the killings, although the couple divorced in 1994.

Neil Jackson, the son of Emily Jackson, Sutcliffe's second victim, said the thought of the killer fathering a child made him feel sick.

Ten prisoners have been allowed to have fertility treatment.

Inmates have used article eight of the EU's Human Rights Act - the right to a family life - to secure IVF.

Miss Smith reportedly declined to comment.
